The fall fashion issues being on the shelves seemed like a good time to post an installment of ‘Perfume in Print.’ I did a comprehensive summary in three parts in September 2012, but this year I am only going to share my impressions. It’s still fair to say most of the writing about perfume (and beauty products) in mainstream magazines is rehashed from press releases, and that just isn’t very interesting to talk about, since I previously looked at it in detail. But, I thought you all might be interested in a quick summary.
- Several perfumes made multiple “appearances” in editorial pieces in different magazines: Elizabeth Arden Untold; various from Terry de Gunzburg; Tom Ford Fleur de Chine; Carven Le Parfum; Michael Kors Sporty, Sexy, and Glam; and Katy Perry Killer Queen. Props to those PR folks.
- The “surprise” mentions were Antonia’s Flowers Rokka Cologne in Lucky, most likely due to its packaging, as it was in a story about Indian prints, and Dior Gris Montaigne, also in Lucky, in a little piece about scents that smell French.
- In Style did a half-page article on the Jo Loves line, but it was more rehashing—very little or no original content.
- Elle, In Style, and Lucky had the most perfume coverage. Vogue had very little.
I’ll leave you with two perfume-related eye candies. Chanel perspex clutches and the gorgeous new Miss Dior ad.
