Slowing Down, and Good Things

I will be slowing down my posting this week and possibly next, as I work on a few other projects.

In the meanwhile, I thought I would commend a few perfume-related things to your notice …

I am happy to see Marni’s fragrance getting a positive review from Victoria at Bois de Jasmin. I have been really looking forward to this one, and am anxiously awaiting the sample I ordered.

Thanks to Undina, I saw that the Sonoma Scent Studio shopping cart is back up. Which probably means a run on Laurie’s newest launch. See Gaia’s review of Cocoa Sandalwood at The Non-Blonde. Or do not waste any time and just go shop here.

… and here are a few new blogs I have been reading, outside the perfume realm.

I may not be the target demographic for these two bloggers who write about fashion and style at “a certain age”, but that’s just another argument (as if we needed one more) that style is ageless. Check out That’s Not my Age and A Femme d’Un Certain Age.

On the same topic, Lisa Eldridge recently did a makeup tutorial for mature women, and solved a longstanding question I’ve had: what to do about eye makeup when I’m feeling that I look tired and old, and bare eyes are only making it worse?

Via Twitter, I recently discovered Getting Cheeky, a makeup-oriented blog. French pharmacy finds? Yes please! And all you perfumistas will appreciate the author, Jessica, pointing out that she always opts for the smallest bottle size when it comes to perfume.

Happy reading, and I hope to be back soon.

  1. Thank you so much for the shout out, my dear! I’m thrilled to have discovered your blog as well, I absolutely adore it.

  2. Now I want to try this Marni fragrance… What have you done?! :)

I like Lisa Eldridge but most of her make-ups, even “evryday looks”, have too much make-up for my taste.

  3. I have just spent 14 mins totally transfixed by the video on make up for mature skin. I’ve seen a lot of Lisa Eldridge videos and that one is particularly inspiring! Scurries to note down all the products used… : – 0

    • Glad you liked it! I really liked those shadow colors, and was thinking I might play around this weekend with some of my similar colors and see how I liked the effect.

  4. I loved that Lisa Eldridge video too! I have to agree with Undina on the ‘too much’ issue; nevertheless, I think Lisa’s a good teacher, and I’ve learned a lot from watching her videos.

    • This was a good one, I thought, for a more minimal look. I always end up applying less than she does, just because I don’t countour, conceal, highlight, etc. and I don’t wear much eye makeup. But I like the ideas behind her videos, and just find them so entertaining. Glad you enjoyed!
