I had promised myself to do a happy hour post tonight, but as you can see I’m a bit laa-ate. So we’ll consider this post-happy hour.
Clockwise from upper left: me (!), sugar and dessert wine, mailboxes and ladders, a bar. There isn’t really a story behind the photos this time, just remembering that I should get out the camera more often (except for the part where I get photographed – I never need that). Today I wore Enlevement au Serail, again. I have almost drained my decant, alas.
Now, I’m off to pack for the weekend. I’m going to California, and I could not be more thrilled about this. I won’t share my “reasons I’m excited” list, however, since there are an embarrassing number of food-related items on it.
What are your plans for the weekend? Watching the Oscars? I will be, and will no doubt be tweeting during the show, which will hopefully be less polarizing than my election tweeting apparently was. And of course I will periodically refresh The Non-Blonde to see Gaia’s take on the dresses and makeup. Do you have any award show viewing tips or traditions?
Whatever your plans, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Edited: As always, photo of me is gone now!
Have fun!!
Renting a property, lunching, lazing and catching up on my blog and book reading. Life is good, so happy to be home.

Welcome home! I hope your weekend is (was, at this point, I guess) restful and wonderful.
Have a great weekend! My plans are predominantly food-related too!
Lovely to see a photo of you, so pretty!
Thank you! I’m glad I’m in good company on the food.
Natalie! So nice to see your face instead of the camera. Thank you for sharing.
. Hope you have a great time in CA.
I’m planning to stay as warm as possible this weekend, nothing exciting. Will be watching the Oscars, though. I’m usually more interested in the fashion than the movies I’ve usually missed.
Thank you for commenting!
Has it been chilly up where you are? I hope you succeed in staying warm. I’m also more interested in the fashion at the Oscars, and especially this year because I didn’t see all the movies.
Yes, so nice to see you, and have a blast!!
Thanks! I hope your weekend is grand, too.
So nice to see your beautiful face, Natalie! You remind me of a young Diane Lane meets a young Nigella Lawson — stunning. Now that you’ve gotten brave, I wonder if we can coax Undina out of her camera shyness?
I hope you have an excellent time in California. Me, I’ll be doing my usual. Going out in the blasted cold for a run; later going out to eat at a Korean restaurant that has become a favorite; listening to music while completing some printing work for a woman who was my 4th grade teacher and who has nicely supplemented my perfume income this year.
Thank you so much. I would love to get Undina to post some pictures, but I know camera-shyness firsthand, so I don’t think it’s fair for me to try to do the coaxing.
Wonderful to still have contact with an early grade teacher. Not having many long-term connections like that, I am always impressed with people who stay in touch or reconnect that way. And if it supplements, the perfume budget, all the better, right?
My but your hair looks fabulous!! Have a wonderful time in California. Miss you!
Thanks! It’s great so far. I miss you too. I am going to email and see if we can calendar.
Have a good time in California Nathalie. Nice to see the face behind the camera!
Thank you, Michael! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too.
You look great! I don’t understand that part about photograghing you
Have a wonderful weekend: the weather is just perfect here (if you do not listen to my vSO who still complains about not enough rainy days)!
I don’t have much planned, not even sure if I watch Oscar… Probably I will… We used to have parties with friends to watch it together (and we would dress up and have our own photo sessions) but recently the tradition went away – and everybody is too relaxed to do anything about it.
Thank you.
You probably don’t understand because you are so photogenic! You were right about the weather. It is 70. I’m sorry there is not more rain for the vSOs sake, but glad for mine.
Your Oscar tradition sounds fun, but I can understand outgrowing it. Some friends and I used to do something similar too, but we’re more low-key now.
You must be kidding!
It took me years and hundreds of pictures on which I hated myself to get a couple of those that I like. And it’s not a false modesty, I really do not photograph well unless I turn the right way, look into the right direction, etc.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but you are crazy.
You’re beautiful from every angle, lighting, etc. Obviously I have not seen tons of pictures of you, but the ones I have seen have all been good. I understand though – we are always hardest on ourselves.
Hello, pretty lady.
Wonderful to have an image to associate with your brilliant words.
Aww, thank ya!
Not sure if I’ll watch the Oscars… post-daughter, making the timing of awards shows work is hard. The part I care about the most is the beginning, with the entrances and the dresses and the fashion, and my daughter’s bedtime stuff is usually still going on during that time. Even if my husband takes bedtime duties, it’s still loud/distracting/etc. Plus Sunday nights tends to be some kind of blur of getting stuff ready for the week.
Have fun in California! Remarkably, I’ve never been to the west coast.
Yes, that is a whole different ballgame when you have kids, isn’t it. Sunday nights are tough in general, too. Chore nights.
Natalie, I looked at those pics and thought “I must find out who that beautiful woman is” not dreaming it was you, just because you are/were so camera-shy! So lovely to be able to picture your face now. (I would also kill for hair like that, so please consider doing a hair care post one day).
Have fun in California and eat LOADS.
Oh, Tara, just when I think you could not get any nicer!
You made my day, thanks! I hope you’re having an awesome weekend.
And a skincare post! Seriously, what do you use? Your skin is beautiful!
Thank you so much! I’m crediting the lighting on that one, but will consider both post options, as I am always looking for ideas.
I agree with Suzanne that there is a bit of Nigella Lawson about you – if you can cook like her, I’m even more envious, but just to look so glamorous is already starting a “lock lemming”, if I may coin such a foolish term.
Am a bit late to comment on my weekend, though I did morph into an astonishing one-woman soup kitchen, feeding not one but five separate sets of friends between Thursday and Sunday, two with more than the soup course, even. I hardly knew myself.
Hope you had a blast in California!
Nope, could not cook my way out of a wooden box, as they say.
And happily, as I absolutely despise cooking.
Well done you on the feast preparation! I hope you had fun and didn’t spend the entire time in the kitchen.
So now we know where your “perfume bloggers are usually attractive” post came from!
DAYUM!
Hahahahahaha. You’re very sweet (and I swear I’m not that egotistical!). I had other people in mind (like YOU) when I wrote that post.
Lovely eyebrows! Hope California was all you wanted it to be
XOXO,
T
Thank you! It was fantastic. I hope you had a great weekend, too. It’s so nice to see you!
