It’s Friday! Today when I left work, it was sunny and warm outside. A wonderful reminder that winter won’t last forever, and spring is on its way. I walked home in a sort of daze, practically grinning at the scenery. I’ve been calling this “lollynecking,” a combination of lollygagging and rubbernecking. It seems to be a spring/summer condition for me.
This week has also been very social. The margarita photo up top is from a party earlier in the week, where I was wearing (appropriately) the very caliente! nail polish on the lower left. (It is Revlon Fearless, and it actually seems to be a duplicate of the polish Beyonce wore for the inauguration, NCLA’s I’m With the Band.)
The train photo on the bottom right is from my morning commute. I love this piece of graffiti, which says “I am tired of waiting for your revolution! I will start my own.” Every morning, its determination and defiance makes me feel somehow invigorated.
Lastly, the photo on the upper left. I mentioned in my earlier post this week that I had just read a book on scarves. What better to do after a long day than scout eBay and Etsy for vintage scarves like this Guerlain one? That’s what I’ve been doing tonight, drinking Gundlach Bundschuh’s 2009 Cab Sav and wearing L’Artisan’s Traversee Du Bosphore.
Happy weekends to you all! What are your plans, and your perfumes?

What a perfectly lovely evening. And I love the nail polish. You can’t go wrong with a posh classic red like that.
Thank you! It was a nice evening. Sometimes it is so nice to stay in on Friday evening. I hope you have a great weekend!
My weekend is a routine of chauffeuring my daughter around from dance, to karate, to birthday parties. Sunday will be a Super Bowl celebration. I intend to wear my latest favorite discovery – Chanel Les Exclusifs 1932.
You will certainly be the most elegantly fragranced person on the chauffeur/Super Bowl/birthday party circuit!
I haven’t smelled 1932 yet, but I am looking forward to it.
I don’t have anything special planned for this weekend. Will do some decanting (I finally got the supplies). Maybe a dance lesson – if we find a teacher who doesn’t watch the Super Bowl.
Nice nail polish! I should probably paint mine… And I want margarita.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I love Super Bowl weekend for this reason. I will go out and shop and do other things that are normally annoying to do on the weekends, simply because everyone will be watching the game.
I hope you find a teacher who can oblige, and that you have a great weekend too!
Have a great weekend.
My SOTD is Mon Nom Est Rouge from Majda Bekkali
Thank you, you too! I love the name of that perfume. The linguistic equivalent of Lolcats.
The name is quite fancy, isn’t it?
I love a good portmanteau and “lollynecking” is just fantastic!
I have a a deep affection for scarves that borders on the unhealthy, so trolling for scarves online sounds like a great time to me. It’s amazing how much you can punch up an outfit just by adding a scarf.
Recently, I saw a collection of Vera Bradley scarves that had been framed. The effect was gorgeous, but I think I would rather wear them!
No big plans for the weekend here – just the regular perfume spritzing, reading, and catching up on neglected chores. This morning I am wearing Estee Launder Sensuous, which I like more than I thought I would. The perfume certainly doesn’t live up to its name, IMO. A sensuous fragrance should have a little “dirt” and I smell pretty darn clean!
Turns out I really didn’t need to offer my opinion on Sensuous…My typo said it all!
I am *so* going to start calling Estee Lauder Estee Launder.
Awesome typo.
So many scarves are beautiful works of art, that I can imagine framing them would be a great effect. I hope you enjoy your weekend, and that the chores don’t completely take it over, as they have a way of doing!
I’m about to go for a run in said sunny weather, and later we’re seeing a play in Boulder. Tomorrow we’re going to a Super Bowl party despite our both having less than zero interest in football. It seems like a good excuse to make homemade onion dip and wear something loud and trashy. Happy weekend!
Excellent! We are equally as indifferent about the game, and I’m so excited that the weather is this nice and we can actually be out enjoying it. Happy weekend to you too!
Hello Natalie!! Love the photos. It’s a snowy day today, and I need to get ready for a gardening meeting – need something full of warmth to spritz on – perhaps I’ll wear SSS Incense Pure? Enjoy your weekend! (hahaa lollynecking – love it!!)
Oh, it’s snowy for you? I’m feeling a bit guilty gloating about the sun in that case. But a gardening meeting in SSS sounds wonderful.
Enjoy!
I don’t even wear scarves (can’t stand anything around my neck – no turtlenecks, cowls, high necklines) and I want that Guerlain one – to display, of course.
Daughter went to a lock-in event from 10pm till 5am Friday . Who comes up with these events? Just getting up and going to work from 3pm till 11:30 Sat. and Sun. so this football hater will have to hear everyone whining about working during the Superbowl.
I have always wondered about those lock-in events, too. Seems like a nightmare! My high school had one, and just the thought made me shudder with horror.
I’m sorry about the Super Bowl whiners. We have just finished hearing the whining about how the team here didn’t make it to the big game, and that was enough to drive me batty, so I can imagine what you’re in for. Here’s sending you good vibes and hopefully good perfume for the day.
Well, I was away this weekend, so missed your weekend post at the correct time, but I love the photo montage, and like JoanElaine, I also love me a portmanteau word. : – ) The highlight of your post was learning that there is actually a nail polish called “I’m with the band”. Too funny!
Thank you, Vanessa! I like that nail polish name, too, although I was also a little smugly pleased to see that my cheaper version was so “on-trend.”
