It has been a very quiet week here on the blog, as I’ve been recovering from a cold that didn’t have the best effects on my sense of smell. But, I had a wonderful time catching up on all the other fragrance blogs, and I wanted to share some of these posts in case any of you missed them.
On The Candy Perfume Boy, Thomas shares about a perfume that makes him think of a grumpy granny. Any ideas?
Suzanne’s contemplative review of Amouage Opus I on her Perfume Journal has me reconsidering this scent.
From a few weeks ago, Brian at From Pyrgos reviewed Shalimar.
Neela Vermeire’s perfumes are continuing to earn attention, and I really enjoyed Undina’s take at Undina’s Looking Glass. Her summary of Bombay Bling — “juicy, bright, and happy … but feels like a real perfume” is spot on. Birgit at Olfactoria’s Travels also recently shared her views on all three scents, and as a bonus while at her blog, you can enjoy photos of her lovely perfume collection.*
Dee at Beauty on the Outside asked the interesting question: do you share your love of perfume, or not? The conversation in the comments is really interesting!
Both Undina’s Looking Glass and Parfumieren have recently celebrated blog-o-versaries. Cheers to them!
And on her blog Perfume in Progress, Sonoma Scent Studio perfumer Laurie is holding a draw for her newest release. Don’t miss it!
*I refuse to use the “P” word to refer to a perfume collection. It’s such an icky word.
Thanks for the link! I don’t like the p-word at
all either, least of all attached to such a beautiful thing as perfume bottles.
Least of all attached to such beautifully photographed and elegantly presented perfume bottles as the ones you’ve been posting in your sneak peeks.
You’re welcome!
Thank you Natalie for calling us out on the use of the “p-word”. It can be appallingly easy to thoughtlessly fall into crass slang.
Thanks also for the link to Laurie’s blog. I hadn’t read it in a while and would definitely have missed the contest. And I do love her Champagne de Bois and the recent indie takes on vintage (especially Miriam).
No need to apologize! I could just as easily be called out for being repressive and close-minded by disliking the word (and the industry).
Not using it is just my personal preference!
So glad I was able to help you not miss the SSS drawing. It’s so generous of her to do the giveaway. Good luck!
I have nothing against the word itself (when it’s not applied to beautiful perfumes collections’ pictures) but I dislike the industry.
I’m with you on that P-word! I wince every time I read it, especially on Birgit’s blog: it feels so foreign there!
Thank you for all the links! I would have read all of them eventually (I always do
) but I was glad you brought them to my attention earlier.
I like Opus I. During my last testing it came ahead of Opus III which I used to like the most in the collection. You should try it again!
You’re welcome!
I will definitely be trying Opus I again. Suzanne’s review was so good.
Whoops, I think I may be responsible for the use of the P-word on Birgit’s blog. My apologies! But I stand by it!
Thank you very much for the link love
Of course you are free to use any words you like!
And you’re welcome!
Thank you so much for the link love, Natalie!
I’m guilting of liking the P-word, though I don’t think I’ve ever used it when I’ve commented anywhere. But come to think of it, I’ve actually said worse.
I’ll make sure to be a lady, however, when I’m here. In general, I’m the polite sort. Really!
I can’t picture you as anything but a very sophisticated and polite person, Suzanne!
And I promise not to do any (more) finger wagging over language
Thank you for the link N! It’s been a weird week for me, I feel so behind on everything (thus the late comment), and I feel a bit dazed: I don’t know what “P” word you are all referring to! Now I’m worried that I’m using some offensive slang… Please someone let me know if I do!
Dee, you’re adorable!
So funny, Dee, as this is exactly how I feel the past few days. It’s like the entire world is going 90 miles an hour and I’m stuck in neutral.
And no, you’re not using any offensive slang or anything. The “p” word is “porn.”
I know, right! So not offensive. I’m a weirdo. I just don’t like the word.
